Fixing Invalid Certificate Warnings in Email Clients (Avast Antivirus)

🛠️ Fixing Invalid Certificate Warnings in Email Clients (Avast Antivirus)

When using Avast Free or Premium Security, email client The Bat! may show invalid certificate warnings after Avast is installed.

This happens because Avast Mail Shield scans SSL/TLS connections by inserting its own certificate, which email clients may not trust by default.

✅ Solution Overview:

You need to export Avast’s Mail Shield certificate and import it into your email client.

🔐 Exporting the Avast Mail Shield Certificate:

  1. Open Avast Antivirus and go to Menu ☰ → Settings.

  2. Use the search bar to type: geek:area → open Avast Geek settings.

  3. Scroll to Mail Shield.

  4. Make sure “Scan SSL connections” is enabled.

  5. Click Perform next to “Mail Shield: Export Certificate”.

  6. Save the certificate (e.g., to your Desktop).

  7. Click OK when prompted.
